Jitesh Sharma’s return in India’s Asia Cup 2025 team has caught a lot of attention in the cricket world. In the historic title win of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2025, Jitesh performed brilliantly playing the role of a finisher. His explosive batting in the lower order and the ability to remain calm under pressure gave him a place in the Indian team again.

Meanwhile, RCB batting coach and former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik made an interesting disclosure about Jitesh. He said in a conversation with Cricbuch, “Jitesh Sharma was probably never restless for India to play. He kept playing very confidently for Punjab Kings and then RCB. But when he came to know that he was close to making a place in the team, he had some restlessness and his impact showed his performance.”

Karthik further said that Jitesh had to pay the most attention to finishing in his game. He told, “He often played small innings but did not know how to finish the match. I told him how to finish the match, the team had to take the cross score. He always had a skill, just had to get it out properly.”

The result of this hard work was seen when Jitesh scored a record target of 228 runs by playing an unbeaten 85 -off 85 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. This season he scored 261 runs in 11 innings, the strike rate was 176.35 and RCB won the title for the first time.

However, Jitesh’s journey is still in the initial stages in the Indian team. He has so far scored just 100 runs in 9 T20 Internationals with 14.3. The Asia Cup 2025 will be a big opportunity for him, where India will start against UAE on 10 September and a high-voltage match will be played with Pakistan in Dubai on 14 September.
