• Patna. The Bihar government has launched a commendable initiative, giving priority to the safety, honor and cleanliness of women. In the urban areas of the state, especially ‘pink toilets’ are being constructed for women, which will be completely determined by women and only for use. The purpose of this effort is to protect women from sexual harassment and discomfort in public places, as well as providing them a clean and private environment.

  • The state government announced this scheme in the budget of 2025-26 and now it is being launched on the ground. Construction of 70 -seat pink toilet has started in 10 major municipal bodies under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0. Additionally, pink toilets of 6 seats are being built under the state plan and 30 seats in municipal bodies. Overall, 100 seats will be made available, for which an amount of ₹ 2.5 crore has been allocated.
  • These pink toilets are painted in pink so that they are easy to identify and clearly show that this feature is only for women. This initiative not only promotes hygiene, but also preserves the privacy and dignity of women.
