New twist in student self -immolation case, two ABVP workers did this work?
Two ABVP workers arrested.
The crime branch arrested two people late on Sunday night in the suicide case of a 20 -year -old student of Odisha’s fakir Mohan Autonomas University. This painful incident shook the entire state and now new facts are coming out every day in the investigation. Crime Branch detained college student Jyoti Prakash Biswal and non-student Shubhra Sambit Nayak. Shubhra is the State Joint Secretary of ABVP ABVP while Jyoti Prakash Biswal is also a member. Both are accused of provoking and motivating the student to suicide. Both were produced in court soon after the arrest and the court sent them to judicial custody for 15 days.
Big proof found in Jyoti Prakash’s mobile
Jyoti Prakash Biswal is the same student who was severely scorched while trying to save the victim at the time of the incident on 12 July. He was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The Crime Branch arrested him as soon as he was discharged from the hospital. According to sources, a big proof was found in the investigation when a 30 -minute long video of self -immolation was recovered from Jyoti Prakash’s mobile. This video is playing an important role in the investigation.
How many people arrested so far?
The case is being investigated by the women and infant crime disposal branch of the Crime Branch. From July 16, a special team started investigation. The team seized CCTV footage installed in the college campus and nearby petrol pump and scrutinized deeply. During the investigation, the team questioned more than 50 students of the college, so that the whole truth of the circumstances before and after the incident of self -immolation can be revealed.
So far four people have been arrested in this case. In the initial investigation, Sahadevkhunta police arrested Sameer Kumar Sahu, head of the college education department and Dilip Ghosh, principal of the college. After this, the Crime Branch took the investigation in his hand and apprehended two more accused.
Why was the student hurt?
The incident took place on July 12, when the second year B.Ed. of the college. The student set herself on fire outside the chamber of Principal Dilip Ghosh in the college campus. Before severely scorched, he had alleged that his HOD Sameer Kumar Sahu was pressurizing him for an inappropriate ‘favor’ and mentally disturbing him. He died at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar during treatment. After this incident, there was political earthquake in the entire state.
New twist in investigation after video surfaced
Amid the allegations and counter-allegations, the Odisha police handed over the investigation to the crime branch in view of the seriousness of the case. Now that the CCTV footage, the students’ statements and the 30 -minute video found from the mobile have been revealed, the investigation has taken a new twist.
Setting herself on fire in the college campus has become a matter of concern for the entire state. Now that both the new accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody for 15 days and the investigation team has gathered many important evidence by interrogating dozens of witnesses, the entire state is waiting for justice in this case.
