New Zealand cricket team shocks, 3 star players out of Australia T20I series, Santner will also be surgery
New Zealand vs Australia T20I 2025: The New Zealand cricket team has suffered a major setback before the T20 International Series against Australia to be held at home in early October. Will O’Rurke, Glenn Philips and Finn Alan are out of this series. The New Zealand Cricket Board gave its official information on Tuesday (August 26).
The scan has confirmed the stress fracture at the bottom of O’Rurke’s back, due to which he has been out of the ground for at least three months. The injury to O’Rurke suffered during the first Test against Zimbabwe earlier this month. Now they have to undergo strength and conditioning programs before re -investigation.
Apart from the series against Australia, he has also been ruled out of the limited over series against England in October and against the West Indies in November.
At the same time, Philips is recovering from a back injury, due to which he had to be out of the Zimbabwe series. His situation will be re -assessed after a month. While Allen has been out for about three months after his right -leg surgery.
Apart from this, the fitness of Limited Over Team captain and all -rounder Mitchell Santner has also increased concern. While playing The Handed, Santner felt pain in the groin, after which he returned to New Zealand. Santner will have to undergo abdominal surgery, which will take about a month to recover. In such a situation, it has to be seen whether he is able to fit for the series against Australia starting from October 1.
Although there is also a good news, fast bowler Ben Sears’ side strain injury has been cured and he will be available for selection in the domestic season.
