New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson recently selected his all -time Top 5 Test bowlers during a conversation with Cricketer. During this time, he surprised everyone by keeping many legendary players out of the list and not including the name of any Indian bowler in it. His list includes neither modern-day stars like Jaspreet Bumrah of India nor Australia’s Mitchell Starc. Not only this, spin giants like Glenn McGrag, James Anderson, Dale Stan and even Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne did not get a place.
Ferguson included only fast bowlers in its top 5. He first chose former New Zealand Pacer Shane Bond, whose career was affected by injuries but took 87 wickets in just 18 Tests. From Australia, he named Mitchell Johnson, who is counted among the deadliest left-arms pace of his era and has 313 Test wickets.
Ferguson from Pakistan gave Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram a place in their list. Akhtar took 178 wickets in 46 Tests while Akram is one of the most successful bowlers in cricket history with 414 Test wickets. The last name was Sir Kurtli Ambrose of the West Indies, who took 405 wickets in his name and remained awe for the batsmen in Test history.
