The public sector NHAI said on Friday that the vehicles have strengthened the process associated with putting drivers in the black list properly on the windscreen. NHAI has taken this step to reduce the problems faced in smooth toll operations due to ‘Loose Fastag’ not to apply the fastag properly.

‘Loose Fastag’ means a fastag that is not pasted correctly on the windscreen of the vehicle, but the driver is in hand or placed in a place from where he cannot be easily scanned.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said in a statement that it is important to resolve the issue of ‘Louge Fastag’ to ensure the ensure of the annual pass system and multi-lane free flow (MLFF) toll, to ensure the authenticity of the fastag and the credibility of the system.

The authority said, “NHAI has further strengthened its policy of giving immediate notice of ‘loose fastag’ for toll collection agencies and users and putting it in the black list.”

According to the statement, not applying the fastag properly creates operational challenges on the toll plaza and the lane congestion, false chargebacks, disruption of electronic toll collection structure, unnecessary delays on toll plazas and inconvenience to other national highway users.

NHAI has provided separate email IDs to ensure timely corrective measures and directed toll collection agencies and users to inform immediately of such fastags. The authority said that on the basis of the information received in this regard, action will be taken to put the concerned fast in the black list immediately. Language edited by: Sudhir Sharma
