The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a bid for 124 Neshar Highway (NH) and expressway projects costing ₹ 3.4 lakh crore in FY 2025-26. These projects will be a total of 6,376 km long. The new projects for which NHI are preparing to bid, include Gorakhpur -Kishanganj -Stiriguri Expressway. The 476 km long Gorakhpur-Kishanganj-Siliguri Expressway project will be bid under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). That is, work on this road project will start after bidding.
Contact between North East India will be stronger
With the construction of Gorakhpur -Kishanganj -Siliguri Expressway, connectivity between North East India will be strengthened. The construction of this expressway will further strengthen the contact between Bihar and North East India. This will promote trade and tourism. Construction work on this project is expected to start soon. Let us tell you that this expressway will pass through eight districts of Bihar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. The project also includes the construction of bridges on the Gandak, Bagmati and Kosi rivers. This is expected to increase the prices of land in these districts rapidly.

The construction of this expressway will benefit people living in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. The distance of the journey will decrease and there will be a big savings of time. Currently, NH -27 from Kishanganj and next to NH -57 to Darbhanga, Motihari, Siwan, Gopalganj, it takes 12 to 14 hours in Gorakhpur Jaane via Gorakhpur Jaane. However, it will take 6 to 7 hours to go to Gorakhupur with the construction of this expressway. Experts say that the formation of this expressway will also cause economic development.
