NIA caught 2 fugitives from Mumbai Airport, wanted to establish Islamic rule
The NIA has arrested 2 accused in the Pune ISIS sleeper module case.
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency ie NIA has arrested 2 fugitives in a 2023 case associated with the Pune sleeper module of the banned terrorist organization ISIS. The case is related to making and testing IED in Pune, Maharashtra. Both the arrested accused have been identified as Abdullah Fayaz Sheikh alias Diaperwala and Talha Khan. Both of them were caught by the Bureau of Immigration on Mumbai International Airport T2. He was trying to return to India from Indonesia’s capital Jakarta. The NIA team arrested him and arrested him.
Both accused were absconding for the last 2 years
Both these accused were absconding for the last 2 years and the NIA Special Court of Mumbai issued a non-bailable warrant against him. The NIA had also announced a cash reward of Rs 3-3 lakh to give information about these two. The case is related to the criminal conspiracy hatched by 8 other members of the ISIS Pune sleeper module already arrested, including Abdullah Fayaz Sheikh and Talha Khan. These people had conspired to carry out terrorist activities to dissolve India’s peace and communal harmony.
The objective was to establish Islamic rule
The purpose of the accused was to establish Islamic rule through violence and terror against the Government of India, furthering the agenda of ISIS. Both these accused have already been filed with other arrested accused. He was involved in building an IED in a house rented by Abdullah Fayaz Sheikh in Kondhwa, Pune. During 2022–2023, he organized a workshop for bomb making and training. Also, he also carried out a controlled explosion for testing the IED made.

NIA is actively investigating ISIS activities in India to thwart its violent and anti-India terrorist plans. In this case, a charge sheet has been filed against all the 10 accused under various sections of UAPA, Explosive Substance Act, Arms Act and IPC. Apart from Abdullah Fayaz Sheikh and Talha Khan, other accused arrested in the case are Mohammad Imran Khan, Mohammad Yunus Saki, Abdul Qadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Qazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nachan, Akif Nachan and Shahnawaz Alam. Investigation in this case is still going on.
