Nissan will launch 3 new SUVs in the Indian market, know details
Nissan plans to launch 5-seater and 7-seater C-SUV with the aim of expanding its portfolio in India
Nissan has re-entered the CBU segment in the Indian market recently with the launch of the X-Trail, which is priced at Rs 49.92 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally they have also launched the Magnite facelift, which is the first significant update in almost four years since its introduction. Now Nissan is preparing to expand its product lineup in India under a new brand strategy. Here are three upcoming SUVs that the company is planning to launch in the next few years.
1. Nissan 5-seater SUV
The C-segment SUV will be introduced by Nissan in the Indian market and the model will compete with popular rivals like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. It will be built on the highly localized CMF-B platform. It is estimated that this SUV will be equivalent to Nissan’s Renault Duster, which will be launched in India next year. Although specific details about the engine and transmission options are not available yet, it is expected to be powered by a petrol engine similar to the Duster SUV.
2. Nissan 7-seater SUV
After the launch of the 5-seater C-SUV, Nissan is planning to unveil a 7-seater version based on the same platform. Both the SUVs are expected to have a similar exterior design with only minor cosmetic updates differentiating them. This SUV will be a 7-seater version of the Renault Duster, likely sharing the same engine and transmission as the 5-seater model. It will compete with cars like Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar among others and is expected to be priced quite competitively.
3. Nissan EV
During a recent press conference, Nissan has announced its plans to enter the electric vehicle market, revealing its intention to launch an affordable EV for India. Given the growing popularity of SUVs, it is possible that their first electric vehicle could be an electric variant of the entry-level Nissan Magnite.
While there is no official confirmation regarding the upcoming electric vehicle, various reports also say that Nissan has shifted its focus away from entry-level EVs. Instead, the company is now considering an EV with a length of over 4 meters to take on models like the Maruti Suzuki EVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
