Noida: A man from Noida was booked for allegedly molested a woman he met on a matrimonial website. The accused also threatened to release her personal pictures and videos, police said. The 24-year-old woman, a resident of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, came in contact with the man through a matrimonial website while she was working at the Delhi airport in 2019. She alleged that the man threatened to kill her parents after she insisted on marriage.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the 27-year-old accused introduced himself as a businessman and that he started visiting her house frequently after their interactions increased. Based on the complaint lodged by the woman, police registered a case against the accused on Sunday, and launched an investigation into the matter, Circle Officer (Refinery) Shweta Verma said.

What’s the case?
The woman in her complaint alleged that the accused came to her home in Mathura in September 2019 when she was alone and allegedly established a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage, according to police. Following this, the accused visited her flat in Delhi and home in Mathura frequently and also got physically intimate with her on several occasions, she has alleged. The woman alleged that she got pregnant and in November 2022, he gave her an abortion pill without her knowledge to terminate her pregnancy’s, police said.
The woman has alleged that the accused kept on exploiting her physically and mentally until about six months ago. She claimed that when she asked the man to marry her, he threatened to kill her members and circulate her personal photos, according to the complaint.

Accused booked
Following the woman’s complaint, the man was booked under sections 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC, Highway Police Station SHO Umesh Chand Tripathi told PTI.
