• Patna. A strict campaign has been started against drivers ignoring traffic rules in the capital Patna. The traffic police is constantly active with the aim of bringing discipline on the city roads, and a large number of action has been taken on violation of traffic rules from January to June this year.

  • According to information received from the District Transport Office (DTO), a proposal has been sent to cancel the driving license (DL) in 988 cases in the last six months. In 578 cases, show cause notice (mourning) has been issued while suspending DL. At the same time, notices have been sent to about 900 vehicle owners before the process of canceling their vehicle registration. Written reply has been sought from all these owners, and notices are being sent to their registered mobile number.

  • According to DTO office, if any driver:
  • Repeatedly violates traffic rules,
  • Do not submit a valid driving license or vehicle papers during the investigation,
    So the process of suspension of driving license begins against him.
  • If a driver’s DL is found to be suspended in advance and he is caught again, a fine of up to ₹ 5000 can be imposed. DL under traffic laws can be suspended for at least 3 to 6 months.
  • DTO warning: if the rules are broken, action will be taken
  • Patna DTO Upendra Kumar Pal said that a large number of youth in the capital are driving carelessly, due to which the possibility of accidents is increasing continuously. He strictly said that if a driver disregards the traffic rules, strict action will be taken against not only DL suspension, but cancellation of vehicle registration.

  • In the last six months, more than 30 drivers’ DLs have been canceled due to serious violations of traffic rules. Before the cancellation of DL, the licensing authority hears both sides, and DTOs take a final decision based on evidence and answers.
