Saxena has approved the proposal to include banking, non-banking financial companies (NBFC) and gas supply in the capital in the scope of public utility services. With this decision of Saxena, disputes related to banking, NBFC and gas supply can now be disposed of in a fast and accessible manner through permanent Lok Adalats.

Proposal was sent by the Law Department of Delhi Government

The Law Department of the Delhi Government proposed to bring the Lieutenant Governor to banking, NBFC and gas supply under the purview of public utility services. The proposal of the Law Department stated that there is a steady increase in the number of cases like loans, financial recovery, investment, quality of services and billing related to banking and NBFC sectors. The Delhi government had said that if such disputes are brought to permanent public courts by bringing such disputes under public utility services instead of traditional courts.

The burden of regular courts will be reduced

An official said that bringing these services under the purview of public utility services will be easier, economical and quick, which will give a lot of relief to the common citizens. Along with this, the burden of regular courts will also be reduced and the rest of the cases will get more time. Let us tell you that at present, three permanent Lok Adalats in Delhi are working to resolve electricity related disputes. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority is in the process of formation of another permanent Lok Adalat to resolve cases related to transport, post, telecom, water supply, public hygiene, health and insurance.
