NZ vs SA, Zim T20 T20 TRI-Series Final Highlights: In the final of the Zimbabwe T20 Tri-Series 2025 played in Harare, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 3 runs in a thrilling match and won the title. New Zealand scored 180/5 runs with the help of innings of Rachin Ravindra (47) and Devon Conway (47) while batting first. In response, despite the explosive innings of South Africa Luan-Dre Pretorius (51) and Dewald Brevis (31), he could reach 177/6 only 3 runs away from the target.
In the final of the Zimbabwe T20 TRAI-series 2025 played at Harare Sports Club on Saturday, 26 July, New Zealand won the title by defeating South Africa by 3 runs. The result of the exciting match came out on the last ball, where Matt Henry’s tight bowling and fabulous catches of Kiwi fielders won New Zealand.
New Zealand scored 180/5 runs in 20 overs in front of the South African team that won the toss. Tim Safart (30) and Devon Conway (47, 31 balls) made a fast start of 75 runs. Rachin Ravindra (47, 27 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes) played a quick innings in the middle order, while the Kiwi team scored 180 with some contribution of the lower-middle order. Lungi Angidi (4 overs, 24 runs, 2 wickets) was the most successful bowler for South Africa.
Chasing the target, South Africa made a bang. Luan-Dre Pretorius (51 runs off 35 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) and Reza Hendrix added 92 runs for the first wicket to bring the team to a strong position. But the team’s run slowed down as Reza Hendrix (37) was dismissed. The team was reduced to 131/4 in 15 overs due to cheap dismissal of captain racei van Der Dusen (18) and Rubin Harman (11).
Dewald Bravis (16 balls, 31 runs, 3 sixes, 1 four) played a rage and brought South Africa closer to victory, but in the last over, Matt Henry took his wicket with Michael Braswell’s brilliant catch. In the final over, the African team needed 7 runs, but Henry’s accurate bowling and George Linde’s Derry Mitchell was overwhelmed on the team’s expectations at the long-on-on. On the final ball, Senuran Muthusamy could not connect the ball and New Zealand won the match by 3 runs and won the Zimbabwe Tri-series title.
Matt Henry (3 overs, 19 runs, 2 wickets) was given Man of the Match to win the last over, while Adam Milne (4 overs, 27 runs, 1 wicket) also strengthened the Kiwi team’s grip by holding run in the middle overs.
