Chhath Puja is dedicated to Sun worship. This festival has been going on since the Vedic period, in which the Sun God is worshipped. Preparations for Chhath Puja start four days in advance. On the first day one has to take bath and food, on the second day one has to do Kharna, on the third day one has to worship the Sun and on the fourth day one has to offer Usha Arghya. In Satyayuga, our sages were worshipers of Sun and Fire. Mother Sita also worshiped Sun God. From Lord Krishna’s son to Karna, everyone worshiped the Sun God. Sun God will be worshiped on 7th November. On this day, Arghya will be offered to the Sun God in the evening. According to beliefs, chanting some mantras while offering Arghya to the Sun God is considered auspicious. Offer Arghya to Sun God in this manner:
Take holy water in a pot to offer Arghya to the Sun God. A few drops of raw milk, red sandalwood and flowers, Akshat and Kush are added. While facing the Sun God and chanting Surya Mantra, slowly flow water and offer Arghya. During Arghya, Chhath devotees worship the Sun God with daura-soup filled with fruits and prasad in their hands. On the third day in the evening, Pratyusha, the last ray of the sun, is worshiped by offering Arghya. It is believed that offering Arghya to the Sun in the evening during Chhath also results in long life.
When is Arghya offered to the Sun in Chhath Puja?
In Chhath Puja, Surya is worshiped while standing in a river or pond and Arghya is offered. On the third day of Chhath Puja, Arghya is offered to the setting Sun God in the evening. At the same time, there is a tradition of offering Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth and last day of Chhath Puja. By placing sugarcane, thekua, rice laddus, fruits and other ingredients in bamboo soup, it is worshiped while standing in water.

Time to offer Arghya to Sun God:
The third day of Chhath Puja is on Thursday. According to the Panchang, the sunset on November 7 will be at 05:32 pm, that is, the work of offering prayers to the setting sun will start at 5:32 pm.
Friday is the fourth day of Chhath Puja. The time of sunrise on this day is 06:38 am. In such a situation, the fasting person can start offering Arghya from 6.38 am as soon as the redness of the Sun becomes visible.
