Jammu and Kashmir:The higher education department of Jammu and Kashmir is facing a serious challenge, as government officials have expressed serious concern over the significant decline in student enrollment in various degree colleges in the Union Territory over the last few years.

In an official notice, principals of government degree colleges and Government Colleges of Engineering and Technology (GCET) have been asked to address the issue by giving their suggestions and opinions.

To better understand the reasons behind the trend and explore strategies to counter it, principals have been requested to provide their inputs in a one-page, bullet-point format.

The notice highlights the urgency of the situation, urging college heads to submit their responses by 4:00 pm on October 15, 2024.

Declining enrollment has raised concerns about the future of higher education in the region. It remains to be seen how officials and teachers will collaborate to ensure that these institutions can attract and retain students in the years to come.
