After the 22 -run defeat to India in the Lord’s Test, there is a debate on Ravindra Jadeja’s innings. Now, former coach Ravi Shastri questioned Jadeja’s defensive attitude and said that if he had been a little more aggressive, the result of the match could have been different. Shastri also questioned Jadeja with England captain Ben Stokes’s 2019 heading innings and also questioned his confidence.

In the Lord’s Test, India suffered a 22 -run defeat to England, but on the last day of the match, Ravindra Jadeja’s slow but militant innings still remains a big issue of discussion. India was at 112/8 and it seemed that the match would end before lunch, but Jadeja along with Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj brought the team to 172 and raised hopes of victory.

Jadeja scored an unbeaten 61 in 181 balls and made important partnerships with Nitish Reddy (35 -run partnership), Bumrah (30 -run partnership) and Siraj (23 runs partnership). However, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri did not like this method of Jadeja. Shastri believes that Jadeja took a lot of care and should have played aggressive against England spinners, especially Shoaib Bashir and Joe Root.

Shastri compared Jadeja to Ben Stokes’ 2019 Ashes (Handingley) memorable innings, where Stokes won 135* runs and won England on his own. Shastri believes that if Jadeja shows a little more confidence in his batting, he can become more matches to win more matches for India.

He added, “There is no shortage of talent in Jadeja, but if he gets confidence even 40 percent of stokes, he can win more matches. He has scored three triple centuries in first-class cricket, but it took him a long time to understand his batting capability.”
