Online payment will be made at the counter in the post office from August, facility will be available in the whole of India
If you come and go to the post office due to some work, then there is good news for you. Will be able to make online payment from the coming August at post office counter across the country. According to PTI news, official sources said that India Post has decided to start accepting digital payments at counters from August after completing the rollout of a new application in its IT system.
Accounts will be sinks through UPI system
According to the news, the post offices are not able to accept digital payment yet because their accounts are not sinks with UPI (unique payment interface) system. An official source said that the Department of Posts is implementing its IT infrastructure which will be new applications that will be able to make transactions with the Dynamic QR code. By August 2025, the rollout in all post offices will be completed.
Pilot rollout started in Karnataka Circle
The pilot rollout of this system under IT 2.0 has been started in Karnataka Circle. QR-based bookings of mail products were successfully made in Mysore Head Office, Bagalkot Head Office and its subordinate offices. Initially, the Department of Posts introduced a stable QR code at sales counters at the post office to enable digital transactions. But due to repeated technical problems and customers complaints, the idea had to be discontinued.
Government has taken this initiative regarding post office
The government plans to convert India into a large logistics organization with 1.5 lakh rural post offices. Post offices have been changed a lot in recent years and efforts are being made to make a back bone for the financial inclusion of communities, especially women in rural India. According to the government, while on average, there are 20 percent of women accounts in national banks, while more than 45 percent of women accounts have been opened since the introduction of India’s post payments bank.
