After the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, a war-like situation has occurred between India and Pakistan. In view of this, the Government of India has issued an order of nationwide ‘mock drill’. The Union Home Ministry has decided to get mock drills done in 244 districts across the country on 7 May. Let us tell you that this is the first order issued by the Central Government since 1971. Such a comprehensive mock drill took place in 1971 under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, when there was a war between India and Pakistan. That is, after 54 years, such an order has been issued once again. During that time, mock drills were done to ensure civil security.
This time the mock drill is aimed at being calm in the event of air strikes or other attacks, to prepare safe shelter and follow the instructions issued by the administration. This exercise will be important especially in the strategically sensitive districts of the states bordering the Indo-Pakistan border such as Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. This mock drill will be held up to village level, in which fire service services, home guards and civil defense organizations will participate actively.
What will happen in the mock drill?
- A siren will be played for warning of an airstrikes.
- At the time of mock drill, blackout will be extinguished and dark.
- Common citizens will be given training related training during the attack.
- To protect important and sensitive establishments from the eyes of the enemy.
- Practicing risky places and taking them to safe places.
- Students and civil defense will be trained, preparations for security will be tested in emergency.
- Control room communication equipment will be tested, significant safety structures will be hidden.
