Out or not out? KL Rahul walked out in anger after being given out

The Indian top order proved to be a miserable flop in the first Test match against Australia. However, opening the batting in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Rahul batted well but the batting order collapsed as soon as he was out. Rahul showed grit and determination despite losing teammates from the other end. However, the way Rahul was given out definitely raised questions about umpiring.

Australia captain Pat Cummins then decided to go for DRS and the Australian players started celebrating when the snickometer showed a spike, but the side replay angle failed to clearly show whether the bat was close to the pad or not. No. The third umpire asked to show another angle but it was not available at that time.

Surprisingly, the third umpire based his decision on the spike alone, ignoring the absence of a front-on angle in conjunction with a snickometer. As a result, Kettleborough had to change his decision, which left Rahul very disappointed. Rahul went to the pavilion expressing his anger over the umpire’s decision. Even the commentators were surprised by the TV umpire’s decision. Many cricket experts believed that the third umpire should have evaluated all the angles.
