Outcry in the stock market, Sensex 647 and Nifty from the official announcement of 50% tariff on India
Share Market Opening 26 August, 2025: There was chaos in the Indian stock market on Tuesday as soon as trading started. After the US decision to implement 25 percent of additional tariffs on India, the business started in the Indian market today. Let us tell you that the additional 25 percent tariff imposed by the US on India is being implemented from August 27. After which, the US tariff on India will increase to 50 percent. The US has also issued an official notification for this, due to which disappointed investors started withdrawing money by selling shares as soon as the market opened today.
Sensex 647 and Nifty 200 points broken
Around 9.48 am today, the BSE Sensex was trading around 647 and Nifty was trading with a decline of about 200 points. Today the Sensex opened at 81,377.39 points with a decline of 258.52 points (0.32%). Similarly, NSE’s benchmark index Nifty 50 also started trading at 24,899.50 points with a loss of 68.25 points (0.27%). Let us tell you that the additional 25 percent tariff imposed by the US on India is being implemented from August 27. The US has issued the last notification for this. After which, the total American tariff on India will increase to 50 percent.
Only 5 company shares of Sensex opened in green mark
On Tuesday, only 5 out of 30 companies of Sensex opened with an increase in green mark and the remaining 21 companies opened in red mark. While 4 company shares opened without any change today. Similarly, only 14 out of 50 company shares of Nifty 50 started trading in green mark with a rapidly and 35 company shares opened in red mark. While shares of 1 companies started business without any change. Titan’s shares included in the Sensex companies today opened with the highest 0.49 percent and Sunforma’s shares opened with the most declined by 0.97 percent today.

Among the rest of the Sensex companies, Hindustan Unilever shares today opened with 0.37 percent, Bajaj Finance 0.12 percent, Trent 0.08 percent and SBI shares gained 0.04 percent. Shares of Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and BEL opened without any change on Tuesday.

On the other hand, today the shares of the Eaterial Shares 0.86 percent, ICICI Bank 0.83 percent, NTPC 0.83 percent, Bharti Airtel 0.80 percent, Axis Bank 0.74 percent, Tech Mahindra 0.70 percent, Infosys 0.68 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 0.63 percent, Bajaj Finnar Bank 0.52 percent, Aadani Ports 0.48 percent, Powergrid 0.40 percent, TCS 0.34 percent, L&T 0.30 percent, HCL Tech 0.21 percent, Reliance Industries 0.21 percent, Tata Steel 0.06 percent, UltraTech Cement 0.04 percent, Asian Paints 0.03 percent, Asian Paints 0.03 percent, HDFC Bank 0.01 percent and ITC share 0.1 percent.
