Let us tell you that on Monday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the appointment of Azhar Mahmood as acting red-ball coach. This former Pakistani all -rounder has now taken new and big responsibility after the team’s bowling and long -term services as assistant coaches.

PCB has great expectations from Azhar Mahmud

Azhar Mahmud will continue as an acting test coach till the end of his current contract. 50 -year -old Azhar Mahmood has replaced Aqib Javed, who was still playing the role of Test coach. Aqib Javed took the post of Test Coach of Pakistan interim after the resignation of Jason Gillespie. Gillypi left the post after differences with Javed and PCB.

The PCB has issued an official statement expressing his hopes on the appointment of Azhar Mahmood. The board has said, “Azhar Mahmood is an experienced cricketer who is coming in this role with his impressive experience. After serving as an assistant head coach of the national team, Azhar has long been an important part of the team’s strategic core. His deep knowledge about the game, international experience and his success in the English County Circuit makes him an extra -impaired.”

Azhar Mahmud’s cricket figures

Azhar Mahmood has scored 900 runs in 21 Tests at an average of 30. Which includes three centuries and a half -century. He has taken 39 wickets from an economy of 2.79 in his Test career. Azhar has scored 1521 runs in 143 matches at an average of 18.10 in his ODI career. Which includes three half -centuries. He has taken 123 wickets from an economy of 4.62 in ODIs.

Azhar Mahmood has played 23 IPL matches from 2012 to 2015. In these 23 IPL matches, he has scored 388 runs at an average of 20.42. Which includes two half -centuries. He has also taken 29 wickets from the 7.82 economy in the IPL.
