Pakistan is no longer well! This close friend of Virat Kohli will now be the coach of Pakistan team
The performance of the Pakistan cricket team has been disappointing for some time. In the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025, the team was ruled out of the group stage, which has once again started searching for the head coach. This time the board is eyeing former New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson, who has worked with Virat Kohli in the IPL in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Islamabad United coach in PSL, talks with PCB
According to sources, if Mike Hesson is entrusted with this responsibility, he will replace former fast bowler Aqib Javed. Currently, Hessen is the head coach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) three -time champion team Islamabad United. According to Pakistan’s popular news channel ‘Geo News’, PCB has started a formal conversation with Hessen.
Interestingly, PCB had approached Mike Hessen last year, but he rejected the proposal at that time citing the already existing commitments. Now the dialogue between the two sides has started again and this time the conversation is moving in a positive direction.
May 4 last date, Hessen leads
Apart from Mike Hesson, the name of former Pakistan head coach Sakalain Mushtaq was also under consideration, but in the current circumstances, Henes is being considered as the lead in the race. The board has set the last date for application for this post 4 May. Given the limited options, PCB is in the mood to give priority to foreign coaches.
How is Mike Hesson experience?
Mike Hesson’s coaching experience has also been quite impressive – he successfully guided the New Zealand team from 2012 to 2018 and brought the team to a new height. There has been a lot of instability in the last few years regarding coaching staff in Pakistan cricket. Many coaches resigned in between, affecting the team’s continuity and development.
