New Delhi: Airline company IndiGo now needs more attention to the facilities provided to passengers. Because in one case, the Delhi Consumer Forum has directed the passenger to compensate, tightening the screws on IndiGo. This is the case of providing a bad seat to the passenger.
Dirty and tainted seat
In fact, a consumer platform in Delhi convicted the aviation company IndiGo for a decrease in service to provide dirty and tainted seats to a woman. The Consumer Forum directed the female passenger to give compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh for inconvenience, pain and mental troubles. The New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission heard the complaint of lodging by a female passenger named Pinky.
January 2 case
The woman alleged that on January 2 this year, when she was traveling to New Delhi by Baku, she was provided ‘unclean, dirty and tainted’ seats. The commission is headed by Poonam Chaudhary and members Barik Ahmed and Shekhar Chandra. Pinky alleged that his complaint regarding the issue was “dismissed and an insensitive attitude.”
Claimed for lack of service
IndiGo denied the female passenger’s claim, saying that he took cognizance of the problem of the complainant and allotted a separate seat, on which he traveled voluntarily and completed his journey to New Delhi. The forum ruled on July 9 on the basis of the evidence presented. According to the copy of the recently provided decision, the forum said, “We believe that the defendant (IndiGo) is guilty of lack of service.”
Case expenses will have to be paid separately
The Manch said, “As far as inconvenience, physical and mental anguish, we believe that he should be compensated. Accordingly, we instruct the defendant to give him a compensation of Rs.1.5 lakh for mental, physical pain.
