Pat Cummins set amazing world record in WTC Final, became the first captain in the world to do so
Australia captain and fast bowler Pat Cummins WTC Final made history with his excellent bowling in the first innings of the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 against South Africa. Cummins took 6 wickets for 28 runs in 18.1 overs and made Vian Malder, Temba Bavuma, David Badingham, Kyle Veren, Marco Yansen and Kagiso Rabada their victims.
First captain to do so
Cummins has become the first captain who has done 5 or more wickets in the innings in the ICC final. Earlier, he had a record of bowling the best as captain in the ICC final. Cummins took 3 wickets for 83 runs in the final of the World Test Championship against India in 2023.
Wonderful world record made
Cummins set a wonderful world record with dismissing South Africa captain Temba Bavuma. He has become the captain to dismiss the captain of the opposing team the most often in Test history. He did this feat for the 19th time by dismissing Bavuma. In this list, he left behind his compatriot Richie Benod (18 times).
300 Test wickets
During this brilliant bowling press, Cummins also completed his 300 wickets in Test cricket and he has become the eighth bowler of Australia to do so.
The fifth fastest bowler to reach 300 wickets in terms of balls is the bowler. He took 13,725 balls to reach the 300 wicket mark and broke the record of Melkam Marshall. Marshall achieved this position in 13.728 balls.
