Wellington: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has given a major blow to Israel. Albanese said on Monday that his country would recognize Palestine as a nation. Along with this, he has joined the queue of leaders of France, Britain and Canada, who have indicated that they will do so. His comment came at a time when he was appealing to recognize Palestine within his cabinet and many parts of Australia, as well as criticism of people’s pain and starvation in Gaza.
Formal announcement will be held in United Nations General Assembly
The Government of Australia has also criticized plans to announce a new and comprehensive military action in Gaza on behalf of Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu in recent times. Albanese told reporters after a cabinet meeting on Monday that Australia’s decision to recognize Palestine would be formally declared at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
Australia’s PM told the solution
The Prime Minister of Australia said that this belief is based on the assurances received from the Palestinian Authority. “These assurances include no role of Hamas in the Palestine government, disarmament and election of Gaza. Albanese said, “Two-nation solutions are the biggest hope of humanity to break the cycle of violence in West Asia and end the struggle, pain and starvation in Gaza.”
