Nagpur: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) supremo Sharad Pawar said on Saturday that it is necessary to support the central government in the interest of the country against the pressure of US President Donald Trump. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Pawar said that Trump’s policy of imposing 50 percent tariff on India’s goods is a kind of pressure strategy. Pawar said, “We, people of India, should support the government to protect the interests of our country.” He emphasized that keeping in mind the national interests, everyone will have to unite and support the government.
‘No one control over Trump’
Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar also said a big thing on the way Donald Trump works. He said, ‘We have seen his working style in Trump’s first term. I think no one has control over them. He who comes to mind, speaks without thinking. ‘ Pawar also made it clear that he does not want to speculate whether the Modi government’s foreign policy has failed. Pawar also expressed concern at the growing distance between India and neighboring countries. He said, ‘We should not ignore our policy towards our neighboring countries. Today Pakistan is against us, and countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives are also not happy with us. Our neighbors are going away from us.
Pawar gave this advice to PM Modi
The former Union Minister advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to ignore this aspect and focus on improving relations with neighboring countries. Pawar said, “Modi Saheb should take these signs seriously and try to strengthen friendship with neighboring countries.” Pawar reiterated his point and said that in the current situation, the interest of the country will have to be kept at the top. Amid Trump’s tariff policy and global pressure, India will have to show solidarity to strengthen its position. He also said that the government needs to maintain balance in foreign policy. (PTI)
