Prime Minister Modi gets Brazil’s highest civilian honor
Brasilia: Brazilian President Lula honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Brazil’s highest civilian honor ‘Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross’. The honor was conferred by Brazilian President Luiz Eneasio Lula Da Silva in honor of Prime Minister Modi’s bilateral relations and honoring the remarkable contribution in increasing India-Brazilian cooperation on major global forums. It is noteworthy that this is the 26th international honor given by a foreign government to Prime Minister Modi since taking over in May 2014.
This honor has been given to world leaders like Nelson Mandela
According to the information, the award is reserved for foreign heads of State and is considered one of the most prestigious honors given by Brazil to recognize exemplary leadership and efforts in strengthening international relations. The ‘Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross’ has been given to world leaders like US President Dwight de Eisenhwar, Queen Elizabeth II and former South African President Nelson Mandela.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described this honor as a very proud moment not only for himself but also for 140 crore Indians. He said that it is a matter of pride not only for me but for 140 crore Indians. President Lula is the chief architect of the Indo-Brazilian strategic partnership. I dedicate this honor to our friendship and his deep commitment to India. We have decided to take bilateral trade to $ 20 billion in the next five years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President of Brazil for his grand reception during his visit to Brasilia.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed at Alvorada Palace in Brazil. Prime Minister Modi and Brazilian President Lewis Inecio Lula Da Silva greeted the PM at Alvorada Palace in Brasilia while welcoming the PM. The Prime Minister was given a formal Guard of Honor. The national anthem of India and Brazil were played at Alvorada Palace. During a formal reception at Alvorada Palace in Brasilia, Prime Minister Modi enjoyed the presentation of Indian classical music, using traditional instruments such as harmonium and tabla. The Prime Minister also saw a cultural program.
