PM Modi is on a tour of China after 7 years, now looked at meeting with Jinping
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Tyanjin: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in China on Saturday after more than 7 years. This tour is special in many ways, as this meeting has become even more important due to business tension recently in Indo-US relations. Modi has come to Tinejin to attend the annual conference of Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO), which will be on 31 August and 1 September. But everyone’s eyes are on his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday. Come, let’s know why this meeting of Modi and Xi is so special.
Why is Modi-shee meeting special?
In this meeting, the two leaders will review India-China economic relations and discuss steps to improve mutual relations. The two countries had tension after a clash in the Galwan Valley in East Ladakh in 2020. Now both sides are trying to reduce that tension. In this meeting, issues such as maintaining peace on the border, increasing trade and resumeing direct flights may be talked about.
‘India-China bring stability together’
Before leaving for China, Modi said in an interview to the Japanese newspaper ‘The Yamiuri Shimbun’, “Stable and friendly relations between India and China are necessary not only for both countries, but also for regional and global peace and prosperity.” He also said that in the era of current global economic instability, big countries like India and China should jointly bring stability in the world economy. Modi will also hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and several other leaders at the SCO conference on this visit. This conference is an important platform for regional cooperation and security.
New beginning in India-China relations
Recently, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India. During this, he had a long conversation with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The two countries announced several steps such as maintaining peace on the border, resumption of border trade and starting direct flights. These steps are important towards ‘stable, collaborative and future -oriented’ relationships between the two countries. On October 21 last year, there was an agreement between India and China, under which the return of troops from the last disputed areas such as Damchok and Depsang in Ladakh was completed. This took a big step towards normalizing the relationship between the two countries.
Was Modi’s last visit to China?
PM Modi last visited China for the SCO conference in June 2018. At the same time, Chinese President Xi Jinping came to India in October 2019, when the ‘informal summit’ of the two leaders took place in Chennai. This visit of PM Modi is expected to have new warmth and trust in India-China relations. Increasing cooperation between the two countries will not only strengthen bilateral trade, but will also bring stability on the global platform. Experts believe that this tour can definitely give a new beginning opportunity for the two countries.
