During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that relations between India and Canada are very important and the two countries should work together to get cooperation in various fields. PM Modi said “there was a great meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney. He and the Government of Canada congratulated him and the Canadian government for successfully hosting the G7 Summit.” This was the first meeting between the two leaders after taking over as Carney in May 2025.
‘India-Canada relations very important’
Congratulating Carney for a stunning victory in the election, PM Modi said, “I am sure, under your leadership, we will be able to work in a positive way and will be able to carry forward the India-Canada relations.” In his address before the bilateral meeting, PM Modi said, “I believe India-Canada relations are very important and India and Canada should work together.” He said that Canadian companies have invested extensively in India and Indian people have also invested a lot in Canada.
‘Can work for the welfare of humanity’
Prime Minister Modi said, “We are both standing for democratic values. Together we can strengthen democratic values, we can strengthen humanity.” He said that if the two countries work together and use all their resources better, “We can work for the welfare of the whole humanity.”
