In the presence of President Mahama, Prime Minister Modi said, “We have decided to give a comprehensive partnership status to bilateral relations.” The two leaders also expressed shared concern on the issue of terrorism. Prime Minister Modi said, “We both agree that terrorism is an enemy of humanity and mutual cooperation will be strengthened to deal with this challenge.” He also thanked India for the support of Ghana in the fight against terrorism.

PM Modi and President Mahama also expressed serious concern about the ongoing struggles in West Asia and Europe. Also emphasized the need to adopt mutual dialogue and diplomacy to solve this. India and Ghana signed four important agreements (MUS) aimed at taking bilateral relations to new heights.
1. Cultural Exchange Program
The two countries agreed to a cultural cooperation program for conservation and propagation of art, music, dance, literature and cultural heritage. The purpose of this agreement is to promote tourism and cultural understanding.
2. Cooperation in traditional medicine
Ghana’s Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine and India’s Ayurveda Educational and Research Institute reached an agreement to cooperate in traditional and alternative medical practices. This partnership will work in the fields of education, training and research.
3. standardization and certification cooperation
There was a major agreement between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Ghana Standards Authority regarding cooperation in quality standards, testing methods and certification processes. This will also make the commercial exchange of the two countries easier.
4. Establishment of Joint Commission
India and Ghana have decided to set up a permanent joint commission. This commission will ensure regular bilateral dialogue, economic review and strategic cooperation at the Ministry of External Affairs level.
