Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 8.15 km-long-Syria bridge project on National Highway 31 in Bihar tomorrow i.e. August 21 (Friday). The project also includes a bridge over the 1.86 km long 6-lane Ganga river. The cost of this entire project is more than Rs 1,870 crore. The bridge will establish direct contact between Mokama and Begusarai in Patna. This will further improve Bihar’s connectivity. This new bridge is built parallel to the old 2-lane railway-road bridge “Rajendra Setu”, which is currently in a dilapidated condition.
PM Modi’s visit to Bihar
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inauguration of several development projects costing about Rs 13,000 crore in Gaya, Bihar at around 11 am on Friday. The PM will also address the gathering of two trains and also address the gathering. Subsequently, he will visit the Anta-Symaria bridge project on the Ganges river and inaugurate it.
Additional distance of more than 100 kilometers will be less
Due to the poor condition of Rajendra Setu, heavy vehicles were forced to change the route again by covering a longer distance. The new bridge will reduce the additional distance of over 100 km in the journey between North Bihar (Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, Purnia, Araria etc.) and South Bihar (Sheikhpura, Nawada, Lakhisarai etc.) for heavy vehicles. This will also reduce the problem of traffic jam in other parts of the area, as heavy vehicles will no longer make a long round. This bridge will also promote the surrounding areas, especially the economic development of North Bihar, which depend on South Bihar and Jharkhand for the supply of raw materials.
