PM Modi will lead the Independence Day celebrations
The nation will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on 15 August 2025, which will be led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from the prestigious Red Fort in Delhi. The Prime Minister will hoist the national flag from the ramparts of this prestigious monument and will address the entire nation. In such a situation, when the country is moving rapidly towards realizing the government’s government’s approach to 2047, the theme of this year’s Independence Day celebrations has been kept “New India”. The ceremony will serve as a platform to provide new energy to move forward on the path of continuous development and progress of a rich, safe and strong new India.
These leaders will welcome PM Modi
With the arrival of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister will be welcomed by Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Mr. Sanjay Seth and Defense Secretary Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh. Defense Secretary, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Delhi region will introduce Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar to the Prime Minister. Subsequently, the GOC of Delhi region will take Shri Narendra Modi to the salute platform, where the inter-service and Delhi Police Guard will salute the Prime Minister. Subsequently, the Prime Minister will inspect the opening guard.
96 soldiers will be in PM’s guard of honor squad
The Guard of Honor Squad for the Prime Minister will include 96 personnel (one officer and army, navy, air force and Delhi Police, 24 soldiers from each. Leader Rajan Arora will handle the Delhi Police Squad in the hands of Additional DCP Mr. Rohit Rajbir Singh.
The heads of the three armies will welcome PM Modi
After inspecting the salute guard, the Prime Minister will move towards the ramparts of the Red Fort, where Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense, Mr. Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Ki Tripathi and Air Chief Martial AP Singh will welcome them. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Delhi region will take the Prime Minister to the stage on the ramparts to hoist the national flag. Flying officer Rashika Sharma will help the Prime Minister to hoist the national flag. The salute will be organized with 21 cannon salutes by the brave artists of 1721 field batteries (ceremonial). This formal battery using indigenous 105 mm light field guns will be in the hands of Major Pawan Singh Shekhawat and the gun position officer Naib Subedar (Assistant Instructor in Gunari) will be Anushosh Sarkar.
Prime Minister will give national salute after the flag is hoisted
The National Flag Guard Team, which will include one officer each of Army, Navy, Air Force and Delhi Police and 32 other rank personnel, a total of 128 personnel will give national salutes at the time of hoisting the national flag by the Prime Minister. Wing commander Tarun Dagar will take charge of this inter-service guard and police guard team. Major Prakash Singh in the National Flag Guard Team, Major Prakash Singh, Navy contingent Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Parvez and Air Force contingent command Squadron Leader V.V. Sharavan will handle. Apart from this, the contingent of Delhi Police will be commanded by additional DCP Mr. Abhimanyu Poswal.
Junior Warrant Officer M Deka will operate the band
After the flag hoisting, the tricolor will be given ‘national salute’. The Air Force band with a JCO and 25 other ranks will play the national anthem while hoisting the national flag and ‘national salute’. The band will be run by Junior Warrant Officer M Deka. This will be the first time that 11 Agniveer air musicians will also be part of the band playing the national anthem. As soon as the Prime Minister’s national flag is hoisted, two MI-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force, one for the national flag and the other showing the flag depicting ‘Operation Sindoor’, will rain flowers at the venue. The captain of these helicopters will be Wing Commander Vinay Poonia and Wing Commander Aditya Jaiswal.
The success of Operation Sindoor will be celebrated
This year, during the Independence Day celebrations, the success of Operation Sindoor will also be celebrated. The logo of Operation Sindoor will be present on the view cutter on the Gyanpath. Flower decoration will also be based on this operation. The logo of Operation Sindoor will also be mentioned on the invitation letters. Also, the invitation letters will also have a watermark of Chenab Bridge, which shows the rise of ‘New India’.
Construction of ‘New India’ on Gyanpath
After Pushpavarsha, the Prime Minister will address the nation. After the conclusion of the Prime Minister’s speech, the Cadet of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and ‘My India’ volunteers will sing the national anthem. A total of 2,500 students and students cadets (Army Army, Navy and Air Force) and ‘My India’ volunteers will participate in the ceremony. These cadets and volunteers of ‘Mai Bharat’ will be present on the Gyanpath in front of the ramparts. All these will sit in the shape of the logo of ‘New India’.

This arrangement will be for visitors
- Clock room arrangement: During the Republic Day celebrations, visitors appreciated the availability of the clock room. So for the convenience of users, 25 clock rooms have been set up at 12 places for the first time during the Independence Day celebrations.
- Volunteers on Helpdesk: 190 Swayamsevaks (120 from ‘Mai Bharat’ and 70 from NCC will help visitors to reach the site with police personnel. Visitors on the way to the Red Fort can identify volunteers.
- Wheelchair arrangement: For all visitors required by wheelchairs, NCC cadets will be present in metro stations and parking areas.
- Additional Car Parking Facilities: Parking number 4A has been arranged for car parking for 250 additional cars.
- Metro services: To help people reach the venue easily, the metro service will start from 4 am on August 15.
Competitions will be organized
On the occasion of Independence Day, the Ministry of Defense organized quiz and competitions with My village. The details of the competitions are as follows:
- Structure design competition on knowledge
- ‘Operation Sindoor- Rejuvenation of India’s policy against terrorism, essay competition on subject
- Reel competition: Visit of monuments/sites related to India’s freedom
- Painting competition on ‘New India Strong India’
- Series of online quiz competitions:
- Role of women in building new India
- India battlefield: India’s border
- Emergence of self -sufficient innovation in the field of national security
- Around 1,000 winners of these competitions will also be part of the ceremony.
Military band performance
Band demonstrations will be organized for the first time on the evening of Independence Day celebrations to promote patriotism among the citizens of the country and celebrate Operation Sindoor’s victory. These demonstrations will be presented by bands of Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, NCC, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, BSF, IDS, RPF and Assam Rifles at more than 140 major places across the country.
