India Japan Relations: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for a 2 -day visit to Japan on Thursday. PM Modi will meet his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba during this period and will attend the 15th India-Japan annual summit. This will be Prime Minister Modi’s eighth visit to Japan and the first summit with Ishiba. During the visit, the two leaders will review the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan, including defense and security, trade and economy, technology, innovation and exchange between people. Apart from this, issues of regional and global importance will also be discussed.

Japan will invest heavy in India

According to local media reports, during Prime Minister Modi’s 2 -day visit, the Japanese government plans to announce an investment target of 10 trillion yen (US $ 68 billion) for India. Kyo News of Japan quoted sources as saying that Prime Minister Modi and Ishiba can announce it in their joint statement. In March 2022, former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also announced an investment of 5 trillion yen in India.

The semiconductor is now eyeing the bullet train

According to Codo News, India and Japan may agree on a new structure to explore the possibilities of cooperation in economic security. Along with essential minerals and clean energy in this structure, semiconductors will also be kept as a major area. It is also important to mention here that Prime Minister Modi and Ishiba can also go to Sendai, which is a city famous for their semiconductor skills. It is possible that the two leaders will travel to Sandai by bullet train.

Decision will also be taken regarding startups

During PM Modi’s visit, India and Japan can also announce an AI cooperation initiative for emerging technologies and related startups. Kyo News quoted sources as saying, “We hope that the areas where Indian companies are strong, promoting cooperation between Japanese companies (and Indian counterparts) will contribute to the development of the Japanese economy.”
