My role was to help develop the foundation design on sloping stabilization plans and slopes.” He also said that he has worked on Chenab Bridge for 17 years, but it was absolutely wrong by the media to introduce him as a “woman behind the mission” and “miraculous working woman” to make the bridge “. He called it “baseless”. He said, “Please don’t make me unnecessarily famous. I am one of the thousands who should be appreciated for Chenab Bridge.”

Challenges about the project

The construction of Chenab Bridge is part of the Udhampur-Sirinagar-Baramulla railway link (USBRL), which had many major challenges, such as difficult terrain, seismic risk and unexpected geology. Dr. Lata and her team helped the project to deal with these complications with a “design-u-go” approach. This meant that he faced new challenges in real time, such as broken rocks and hidden caves, which were left in earlier surveys.

Published paper regarding project

Dr. Lata provided guidance on rock anchor design and slope stability, which were important for the structure of this scale. Regarding this project, Dr. Lata had also published a paper titled ‘Design as You Go: The Case Study of Chenab Railway Bridge’, which was in the special female number of the Indian Geote Technical Journal.

Chenab Bridge higher than Eiffel Tower
