Export to India Preparations for making hubs have intensified. On Monday, an official said that with the aim of promoting the country’s exports, 28 states and union territories have prepared their export strategy. The official also said that all 36 states and union territories have formed the State Export Promotion Committee (SEPC) and the District Export Promotion Committee (DEPC). Apart from this, regional officials of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have drafted the District Action Plan for 590 districts. Of these, 249 districts have been formally notified by DEPC. The official said that these schemes include a comprehensive strategy to promote exports from districts.
Employment opportunities will increase
The Center is encouraging states to involve export promotion activities as it will promote domestic manufacturing and employment generation. The official said that a state export strategy has been prepared in 28 states/union territories. These include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. In the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, DGFT has included the ‘District Export Center’ initiative. Its purpose is to make them export centers by providing direction to the capacity and diversity of every district of the country. To achieve this goal, products and services with export capacity have been identified in all districts of the country.
Exporters will get all kinds of help
An institutional arrangement has been created in the form of SEPC at the state/union territorial level and DEPC at the district level to provide assistance for export promotion and to overcome export growth. District export operations are being prepared for products and services identified by both producers and manufacturers. It aims to solve the challenges of exports, infrastructure obstacles, supply chain differences, to improve market access and increase exports.
