Algiers, 16 October (HS). The first phase of Indian President Draupadi Murmu’s state visit to three African countries Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi from October 13 to 19 was completed on Tuesday. She stayed in Algeria for three. The second phase of his visit will begin from Mauritania today.

The visit comes at an important time when Mauritania is assuming the Presidency of the African Union. During the visit, President Murmu will hold talks with President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al Ghazouani. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Mauritania are also expected to meet President Murmu. Apart from this, President Murmu will also interact with members of the Indian community. This visit will further boost India-Mauritania bilateral relations.

President Murmu will visit Malawi from 17 to 19 October at the invitation of Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of Malawi. During the visit, President Murmu will hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of Malawi. Will interact with prominent business and industry leaders and the Indian diaspora. Will visit places of cultural and historical importance.

On the last day of her state visit to Algeria, President Draupadi Murmu got a glimpse of Algeria’s rich cultural and historical heritage at the archaeological site of the ancient Roman city of Tipsa. Built in the 6th century BC, Tipasa served as a thriving cultural and trading center on the Mediterranean coast. He also visited the royal mausoleum of Mauritania, built during the Numidian era.
