In a ceremony held at the Supreme Court of India, President Droupadi Murmu acknowledged and praised the contributions of those involved in the release of three new Supreme Court publications, which aim to deepen understanding of India’s judiciary and its foundational principles. Joined by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, the President marked the occasion by recognizing the significance of the publications and the Court’s broader commitment to addressing real-world judicial issues.
President Murmu expressed her appreciation for the initiatives being undertaken by the Supreme Court to commemorate its 75th year. “I congratulate everyone who has contributed directly or by way of helping to the publications released today,” she said. Highlighting recent initiatives, Murmu noted the importance of the Lok Adalat held at the Supreme Court, as well as a conference for district-level judiciary officers, both of which she sees as proactive measures in addressing the judiciary’s ground-level challenges.
The event, which brought together legal experts, dignitaries, and members of the judiciary, underscored the Court’s commitment to enhancing accessibility, transparency, and judicial understanding. The three publications released aim to provide valuable insights into the Court’s jurisprudence, a detailed look at the function and effectiveness of legal aid cells within universities, and an assessment of prison conditions in India. These reports are seen as instrumental in supporting ongoing judicial reforms and improving the broader legal landscape.
President Murmu’s remarks emphasized her support for these developments, as well as her hope that these publications would aid in the Court’s mission to foster transparency and continuous improvement. Her comments on the Supreme Court’s contributions resonated with the legal community present, who echoed the importance of these publications in supporting a more inclusive and just judicial system.
