Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a special event at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat. During this, he started production by flagging the first Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara electric car made in India. This is a major step for India, as this electric car will not only be built in its country but will also export to 100 countries of the world. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Japan Ambassador Keichi Ono were also present at the event.

Export of first e-vitara

The first unit of Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara will be sent to Britain (UK). The car was launched in Europe last year and the India Mobility Show in India was displayed in 2025. The car has been prepared on 40Pl EV platforms created in association with Toyota. Toyota will also make its electric car Urban Cruiser EV on this platform.

E-Vitara features

E-Vitara will be available with two battery options with 49kwh and 61kwh. Dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system will also be available with large batteries, called allgrams-E. Its price is expected to start at around 20 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). In India, it will compete with cars like Mahindra Be6, Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV. Its features and launch date are expected to be revealed soon.

New battery plant

Let us know that, PM Modi will also inaugurate the TDS Li-ion battery in Hansalpur next week, Gujarat (TDSG) plant. The plant is built in collaboration with Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki. Battery cells and electrodes will be built here for electric and hybrid vehicles. This will make India stronger in the electric vehicle industry.
