Priority to deliver water to the end of the canals: Minister Vijay Chaudhary:
Patna. An important state -level review meeting was organized in the auditorium of the Water Resources Department in Patna, which was chaired by Honorable Minister of the department Vijay Kumar Chaudhary. This important meeting was inaugurated by the Minister and Principal Secretary of the Department Santosh Kumar Mall by lighting the lamp jointly. After this formal beginning, the Valmi Governing Council’s Adviser Chairman Ishwar Chandra Thakur presented a welcome speech, highlighting the outline of the priorities of the department and the outline of future action plans.
The main objective of the meeting was – detailed review of the ongoing schemes and projects in various irrigation areas of the state. During this period, the physical and financial progress of the schemes, the current status of providing water to the end of the canals, the pending cases related to land acquisition and the current situation of progress visits were seriously discussed.
Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary clearly stated in the meeting that real problems can be understood and solved only through face-to-face dialogue. He said that such regular meetings will not only improve the monitoring of the works, but will also bring speed in them. The Minister reiterated that the primary responsibility of the Water Resources Department is to provide reliable and time-bound irrigation facility to the farmers of the state, which is extremely important for the state’s agricultural-based economy.
At the same time, he gave strict instructions to the Chief Engineers of the department to be alert and responsible in their works. It should be ensured to bring water flow to the end of the canals to the end, so that no field is deprived of water. The Minister also said that all sites inspection work should be completed before the upcoming irrigation session, and strict action will be taken by identifying a person responsible for any kind of negligence.
He also directed that disciplinary action against those who compromise laxity, irregularities or quality in sensors work should be done without delay. The state government is fully committed to the fact that every farmer has timely and quality irrigation facility. For this, the accountability of departmental officers will be clearly decided.
Addressing the officials, Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall said that it is a demand of the hour to ensure the highest level of irrigation facility in every field. He said that at present, the irrigation capacity of a total of 37 lakh hectares of land has been created in the state, and it is the main goal of the department to fully implement it. He directed that all the schemes be completed within the fixed deadline. At the same time, warned that if the canal dam breaks at a place or emergency like Jalplavan arises, action will be taken as the executive engineer, assistant engineer, junior engineer as well as the Chief Engineer as the Chief Engineer.
In addition, all the engineers were also ordered to dedicate a detailed route of canal inspection in their respective areas within the next seven days and dedicate it to the department. In various sessions of the meeting, the progress of irrigation projects operated in major areas like Siwan, Motihari, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Biharsharif, Gaya, Aurangabad and Dehri was closely reviewed. Challenges, conclusions and solution proposals associated with each region were discussed in detail.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary of Water Resources Department Naveen, Pawan Kumar Sinha, Engineer Head (Headquarters) Sharad Kumar, Engineer Chief (Irrigation Creation) Awadhesh Kumar, Chief Engineer (Planning and Monitoring) Brajesh Mohan and Chief Engineer and Technical Consultation of various fields were present. All the officials provided the updated information of their respective areas to the Minister and also shared their suggestions to implement the schemes more effectively.
