In Bollywood, Prithviraj Kapoor is remembered as a personality who ruled the hearts of cine lovers for about four decades on the strength of his loud voice and strong acting. After the success of the film ‘Rajrani’ released in 1933 and Devaki Bose’s film ‘Sita’ in 1934, Prithviraj Kapoor succeeded in making his mark as an actor.
Prithviraj Kapoor’s performance in the film Vidyapati, released in 1937, was highly appreciated by the audience. In the year 1938, Prithviraj Kapoor was contracted for Chandulal Shah’s Ranjit Movetone. Prithviraj Kapoor played an anti -hero for the first time in his cine career in the 1940 film ‘Pagal’ released under the banner of Ranjit Movie. After the success of Sohrab Modi’s film ‘Sikander’ in 1941, he reached the pinnacle of success.
In the year 1944, Prithviraj Kapoor started his own theater company ‘Prithvi Theater’. In the Earth Theater, he used modern and urban ideology which was quite different from the then Persian and traditional theaters of the time. Gradually, the attention of the audience shifted from the theater because those days the craze of the silver curtains dominated the audience. In sixteen years, Prithvi Theater showed 2662 shows in which Prithviraj played the lead character in almost all.
The famous plays of the Earth Theater include walls, Pathan traitors and money. Prithviraj Kapoor gave many hidden talents a chance to move forward through his theater. Which includes big names like Ramanand Sagar and Shankar Jaikishan. As the sixties, Prithviraj Kapoor reduced to working in films. Displayed in the year 1960. In 1969, Prithviraj Kapoor also acted in a Punjabi film ‘Nanak Naam Jahan Hai’.
The success of the film gave a new life to the Punjabi film industry, which was almost in oblivion. In view of his significant contribution to the film industry, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1969. He was also honored with Dadasaheb Phalke, the highest honor of the film industry. This great actor said goodbye to the world on 29 May 1972.
