Priyanka Vadra won from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by more than 4 lakh votes
Wayanad (Kerala). Congress General Secretary and United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday won the by-election of Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala by a huge margin of 4,08,036 votes.
Vadra is entering Parliament for the first time and also broke the record margin of his brother and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, who had secured 3,64,422 votes in the April 2024 elections for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had won the Wayanad seat by a margin of 4.31 lakh votes.
Vadra got 6,17,942 votes, while his rival and Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Satyan Mokeri got 2,09,906 votes and National Democratic Alliance candidate Navya Haridas got 1,09,202 votes.
In the April 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi defeated LDF candidate Annie Raja by a margin of 3,64,422 votes. The former Congress president got 6,47,445 votes, LDF’s Communist Party of India national woman leader Annie Raja (wife of CPI general secretary D Raja) got 2,83,028 votes and BJP state president K Surendran got 1,41,045 votes. .
