In the Lok Sabha, Deputy Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday questioned the fairness of the Election Commission (EC). He said that the opposition wants to openly discuss the amendment of the voter list in Parliament, but the government is postponing it.
Before the executive meeting of Assam Congress, Gogoi said to the media that today there is doubt about the fairness of the Election Commission in the public’s mind. Why is the government running away from discussion on this? Is this an attempt to hide any disturbances in the last assembly and Lok Sabha elections?
At the same time, when the Congress leader was asked that the government argues that the Election Commission does not come under any department, so it cannot be discussed. Gogoi said- These are absurd things, the Prime Minister and the government appoint the Chief Election Commissioner, in such a situation, accountability is also made.
Gogoi said-Shah did not take responsibility for the Pahalgam attack
Gogoi said on Operation Sindoor that Home Minister Amit Shah neither expressed condolences to those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack nor took responsibility for intelligence failure, which is under his ministry.
The upcoming strategy of the Congress is being discussed in detail in the meeting. Elections on 126 assembly seats in Assam are expected in March-April next year.
