Puri: Three miscreants burnt 15 -year -old girl, even Delhi AIIMS doctors could not save

The girl who was set on fire by three unidentified miscreants in Puri, Odisha, died during treatment at Delhi AIIMS. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday that a 15 -year -old girl, who was allegedly on fire, died during treatment. The girl was allegedly abducted and set on fire by three unidentified people on the banks of the Bhargavi River in Puri district on the morning of 19 July.
The victim’s mother told in the FIR lodged at Balga police station that the incident happened when the minor was going to her house after meeting a friend. Three people stopped him and abducted him and set him on fire by putting flammable substances. She had scorched more than 70 percent. He was first taken to the Pipili Community Health Center on 19 July. He was later taken to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on the same day and was taken by air to AIIMS in Delhi the next day, where he performed at least two ‘surgery’ and ‘skin grafting’.
CM’s response
The Odisha Police on Friday recorded the victim’s statement in the presence of a magistrate at Delhi AIIMS. Majhi said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, “I have been shocked to hear the news of the death of the girl in Balga area. Despite all the efforts of the government and the twenty -four -hour effort of the AIIMS -based AIIMS expert medical team, her life could not be saved. I pray for the peace of the girl’s soul and pray to God to give God to bear the power to tolerate this abusive damage.”
No one else was involved in the incident- police
Odisha Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Dev and P. Parida have also mourned the death of the girl. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the death of the minor girl and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased girl. A delegation of BJD MPs led by Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra said that they are going to AIIMS in Delhi. The Odisha police also expressed grief over the incident and claimed that the investigation into the burning of the girl had reached the final stage. The police claimed that no other person was involved in the incident and urged everyone not to make a sensational statement on the matter.
Police statement
Odisha police said in a post on ‘X’, “We have been deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of the victim girl in the Balanga incident. The police have investigated with full honesty. The investigation has reached its final stage. According to the investigation done so far, it is clear that no other person is involved in it. Therefore, we request all not to make any sensitive remarks about the case during this sad moment. ”However, the police did not say how the girl caught fire.
Demand to arrest the culprits
Bhakt Charan Das, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), also expressed his condolences and demanded the arrest of three convicts involved in the fire to the girl within seven days. Das said, “If the culprits are not caught within seven days, we will surround the DGP office.” He said that 15 days have passed since the incident of setting the girl on fire, but the police have not been able to catch any criminal involved in this case. Meanwhile, sources said that Puri police have deployed some policemen near the house of the deceased girl in Balga.
