Beijing: Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held bilateral talks in Beijing on Wednesday. The two leaders met formally at the Diaoyutai Government Guest Home after attending a grand military parade held in Chinese capital Beijing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Kremlin (Russian President’s official residence and office) said that Putin and Kim went into the same car from formal reception to the conversation site. Kremlin said that after a bilateral meeting between the Russian and North Korean delegations, the two leaders held a face-to-face meeting. Putin also invited Kim to come to Russia. North Korean leader Kim’s previous Russia visited in 2023.
Putin praised North Korean soldiers
Speaking to reporters, Putin praised the bravery of North Korean soldiers, who fought with Moscow soldiers to thwart Ukrainian infiltration in the Russian Cursa Border Region. According to South Korean assessment, North Korea has sent around 15,000 soldiers to Russia since last year. He has also sent a large number of military equipment including ballistic missiles and cannons to help in the Ukraine War that has been released for three years.
What did Kim say?
Kim said that the cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow has been ‘quite strong’ since the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries during a meeting in the North Korean capital in June last year. However, Kim did not make any special mention of the war, but emphasized that “if I can do something for you and the people of Russia, if something else needs to be done, I will consider it a brotherhood duty, a responsibility that we will definitely have to fulfill and I will be ready to make every effort to help you.”

The military parade held in Beijing is the first time Kim has participated in a major multilateral event during his 14 -year rule and for the first time Kim, Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping gathered at the same place. Addressing Xi Jinping in a post on social media, US President Donald Trump wrote, “Please give my heartiest greetings to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un when you plot against America.” Putin’s foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov later commented on the post that the words of Trump were present. He said, “I want to say that no one was plotting. None of the three leaders thought about such a thing. ”(AP)
