Rain caused havoc in Himachal Pradesh, 400 roads closed; Alert issued for a week

Shimla: All areas of Himachal Pradesh are receiving heavy rains these days. Due to heavy rains, a case of landslides has also come up everywhere. Roads have also been blocked at many places. A total of 400 roads including two national highways have been closed for the movement of vehicles due to heavy rains in all areas of Himachal Pradesh. Officials said 221 roads are closed in Mandi district and 102 in Kullu. Apart from this, the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) said that the National Highway-3 (Mandi-Dharmpur Road) and NH-305 (AOT-SANJ Road) are also closed.

Yellow alert for next seven days

According to officials, 208 power supply transformers and 51 water supply schemes have been disrupted due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, the local Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in different areas of two to seven districts of the state till August 30. The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert in some districts for the next seven days. Let us know that since Saturday night, many parts of the state have received moderate to heavy rains.

Where did it rain

Pandoh recorded the maximum 123 mm, Kasauli 105 mm, Jot 104.6 mm and Mandi and 68 mm in Karsog. The Meteorological Department said that Nadaun recorded 52.8 mm in Nadaun, 54 millimeters in Jogindernagar, 44.7 mm in Baggi, 44.6 mm in Dharampur, 40.6 mm in Bhattiat, 33.2 mm in Palampur, 31.2 mm in Neri and 30 mm in Sarahan. The Meteorological Department said that Sundernagar, Shimla, Bhuntar, Jot, Murari Devi, Jubbadhatti and Kangra received thunderstorms.

152 people died so far

SEOC said that at least 152 people have died and 37 are missing since the onset of monsoon in Himachal Pradesh on 20 June. So far, there have been incidents of sudden floods, 40 times cloudburst and 74 major landslides in the state and a total of 97 power supply transformers and 51 water supply schemes have been disrupted. According to the report, Himachal Pradesh has lost Rs 2,347 crore in rain -related incidents. The state received 662.3 mm of rainfall from June 1 to August 24 during the monsoon, while the average rainfall is 571.4 mm. (Input-PTI)
