Lahore: In Pakistan’s Punjab province, 23 more people have died in rain -related incidents this week. In this monsoon, the death toll in Pakistan has reached 258 so far. A government institution has given information about this on Thursday. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said, “Since the onset of the monsoon on June 25, about 143 people have lost their lives and 488 people have been injured due to rain -related incidents in Punjab.” This week has said, “This week, 23 people died due to monsoon related incidents.” According to PDMA, the number of people who died in monsoon has increased in Pakistan, according to PDMA. 616 people have been injured. Those killed include 89 men, 46 females and 123 children.

Chenab, Indus and Jhelum rivers increased water level

According to Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of PDMA Punjab, 488 people have been injured and 158 houses have been damaged due to monsoon rains since June 25. Due to the rising water level in Chenab, Indus and Jhelum rivers, the spaces are being vacated by residents of various areas of Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Laiya, Rahim Khan, Zhang, Hafizabad, Chakwal and Nankana Sahib.

Flash Flood

Due to heavy rains, there was a sudden flood in many districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, causing the houses to be damaged and the water level of rivers and drains increased. Officials said the fourth monsoon rains are expected to continue till July 25 and most districts of Punjab, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, are expected to receive rain.

Warning has been issued

The PDMA has warned of potential floods in the urban areas of Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Gujranwala and also warned of the threat of rivers and drains in the entire Punjab province. Meanwhile, the landslides caused by rain blocked the roads, causing thousands of people, including foreign tourists, are trapped in several places in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).

Mobile and internet services also interrupted

According to the news of ‘Don’ newspaper, mobile and internet services have also been disrupted due to fiber optic cable being damaged in many areas. Regional government spokesperson Faizullah Farak said that the Karakoram highway (KKH) of strategic importance has been blocked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohistan district. He said that thousands of people, including foreign tourists, are stranded on both sides of the highway. (Language)
