Ransom of Rs 1 crore demanded from shopkeeper; Threat of death if not given

A case of demanding Chauth worth Rs 1 crore from a shopkeeper has come to light in Jind. Threats were given to kill if the money was not paid. On the complaint of the shopkeeper, the police have named three people and started investigation. In the complaint given to the city police station, Gandhi Nagar resident Shyam Lal told that he has a shop in Main Bazaar.
Pradeep Gill is a friend of his nephew Nitin. He is having a fight with his family members. On October 15, around 9.30 pm, Praveen Gill called her on WhatsApp, on which he threatened her and said that he would kill her along with her family within three days. On October 16, at around 7.30 pm, Praveen Gill came sitting on the back of a red motorcycle along with a boy.
The other boy had covered his face with a cloth. Stopped the motorcycle in front of his shop, pointed towards him and took him for identification. At 11.20 pm, she received four calls from Rajesh Goyat, which she did not pick up. After that, he sent a voice recording from the phone and threatened to kill him along with his family.
Shyamlal said that Rajesh Goyat, Praveen Gill and Pradeep Gill had directly met him several times and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore and threatened to kill him along with his family if the money was not paid. He is in danger to his life and property and that of his family. City police station has registered a case against three people under various sections including demanding Chauth amount and has started investigation.
