Red alert of heavy rains in MP, Gujarat and Rajasthan: Landslide in Gaurikund

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy rains in eastern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat for Sunday. At the same time, there is rain an orange alert in Uttarakhand, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra-Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan-Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh.

More than 1600 Chardham pilgrims were evacuated safely due to the ongoing rains in Rudraprayag on Saturday. Due to rain, big stones fell from the hill and the route going to Kedarnath near Gaurikund was blocked. The process of removing 700 pilgrims is still going on.

Here, the Odisha government on Saturday placed officials of Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur on high alert. Many rivers are in spate, so people have been asked to evacuate from low -lying areas. The water level of Jalaka and Baitarni river has already crossed the danger mark, while the water level of the Suvarnarekha river in Balasore is continuously increasing.

The southern state of Kerala is expected to continue rainfall for the next 5 days. Also, strong winds can also blow at a speed of 50-60 kmph by Sunday. Fishing on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast by July 30 due to strong winds and upheaval in the sea is forbidden.

In Himachal Pradesh too, till July 29, four districts have issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Kullu.

Landslide in Idukki, Kerala, truck driver died
A truck driver died in an accident on Devikulam Road in Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala. The truck driver Ganesan died in this accident on Saturday night, while another person in the truck survived. The accident occurred after a landslide near the Botanical Garden near Devikulam Road.
