Yes, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has increased the registration renewal fees more than 20 years old. The purpose of huge increase in registration renewal fees by the government is to discourage people from keeping old trains, so that people themselves stop using old trains and scrape it.

Fees of Rs 10,000 will now be charged for light motor vehicle

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued a notification, saying that the fees for renewing the registration of light motor vehicles (LMV) over 20 years old have now been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000. Similarly, renewal fees for 20 -year -old two -wheelers have been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 while this fee for three -wheeler and quadricycle has been increased from Rs 3500 to Rs 5000.

Fees also increase in fees for imported vehicles

Registration of imported two -wheelers and three -wheelers will now have to pay a fee of Rs 20,000 and a fee of Rs 80,000 on four wheel or larger imported vehicles. The draft amendment in this regard was made public in February and was finalized on 21 August. The Ministry had earlier also increased vehicle registration and renewal fees in October 2021.

Supreme Court had banned strict action

Let us tell you that in early August, the Supreme Court ordered not to take strict action against the 10-year-old diesel train and 15-year-old petrol train owners in Delhi-NCR. The Delhi government had appealed to the Supreme Court to implement the policy of excluding vehicles from use in view of their actual use instead of the year construction year.
