Rescue operation continues for fourth day in Dharali and Harshil of Uttarkashi
Relief and rescue operations
The rescue operation of Army, NDRF, SDRF and other agencies is still going on in Dharali and Harshil of Uttarkashi. After the cloudburst in Dharali-Harsil, there are trips to evacuate the people trapped in the sudden flood. Helicopters have been deployed for rescue operations and people are being brought to the Matli helipad. Arrangements have been made to ensure safe travel to their destination. CM Dhami himself is monitoring relief and rescue works.
Trying to restore normal condition as soon as possible
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is also constantly monitoring relief and rescue operations. He gave necessary instructions to the officials to restore road, communication, electricity and food supply. He assured that the government is trying to safely evacuate all the affected people and restore normal conditions as soon as possible.
Air Force delivers 20 tonnes of relief material
On the other hand, the Indian Air Force is also engaged in relief and rescue work. Air Force Shinuk and MI-17V5 helicopters are working on C-295 and AN-32 transport aircraft on war footing. The role of the Air Force has become important after the road connectivity collapsed. The Air Force deployed 130 NDRF/SDRF/IA personnel and transported about 20 tonnes of relief material by air.
9 military personnel still missing
The helicopters made several rounds throughout the day to take out those taking shelter in nearby villages and army camps after the disaster. A team of 69 NDRF rescuers, two investigative dogs and a team of veterinarians have also been involved in the campaign to search for living people. The army said that more than 50 people and nine military personnel, including a junior commission officer, are still missing.
Obstruction due to rain
The search and rescue operations have been obstructed due to heavy rains in Uttarkashi for the last few days. Roads connecting Uttarkashi have been badly damaged. Even after this, relief and rescue teams are doing relief and rescue work with the help of Air Force by reaching disaster affected areas in a lot of difficult conditions. Many roads in the district are still blocked or damaged by landslide debris at many places.

Equipment carrying airroots
Officials said that efforts to bring advanced and modern equipment from air route to Dharli have also been intensified so that the work of searching for the people buried in the debris can catch speed. The Indian Army has intensified the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) campaign in Dharli and nearby Harshil, coordinating with other agencies. Due to landslides and breaking roads in many places, this area is still cut off from other areas. Due to the roads being blocked, the devices trapped at various places are being transported to the spot by air.
